This is the 1984 original I’m reviewing. There will no comparison to the newer version. And really how could there be – Bill Murray – need I say anymore.

Throughout this film David McKenna and Tony Kaye remind us of how easy it is for someone to slip from the middle ground to the far right.

Like many Tarantino films that were to come it is the way in which the major story beats are revealed that makes this film great.

The joker’s entrance shows us what sort of crazy we are in for. This is a new level of madman. And Bale is ready to bring us a hero of equal calibre.
