Like many Tarantino films that were to come it is the way in which the major story beats are revealed that makes this film great.

The joker’s entrance shows us what sort of crazy we are in for. This is a new level of madman. And Bale is ready to bring us a hero of equal calibre.

On the face of it the story is simplistic, almost too basic. Why has it become so iconic? I think it is exactly because of this simple plot.

This movie appears on so many top movie lists and has relatively good reviews from critics and audiences alike.
